A new East Memphis business will let expecting parents see their unborn children in 4D high-definition imaging.
The Bump Studio, located at 923 S. Yates Road, is an elective ultrasound business that is non-diagnostic and does not take the place of medical ultrasounds. The Bump Studio owners were inspired to open the facility after their own experiences at other ultrasound businesses, and their realization that they could improve on the model.
“We went there and I saw my mom was tearing up. It was just a cool concept,” said Rico Viglietti, co-owner of The Bump Studio. “People were just lining up to do this because it was a unique thing.”
The other owners include Viglietti’s wife, Mandy Viglietti, as well as Rob and Lauren Rutledge and Scott Adelman.
Since the ultrasounds are non-diagnostic, a medical doctor is not required to be on staff, but Adelman is a medical doctor. The individuals conducting the ultrasounds are certified technicians.
“We want to stress that we are all about mom and baby’s health,” Mandy Viglietti said.
The business’ ultrasound studios accommodate up to 12 people, so there is room for the whole family. The Bump Studio offers five different “Bundle” ultrasound options that range from $60 to $399.
The Bump Studio owners also say they can tell the sex of the baby two weeks before traditional ultrasounds.
Besides the actual imagining, The Bump Studio sells Visha Skin Care products, gender reveal items and limited retail items such as stuffed animal bears that have a recording of the baby’s heart beat placed inside.
Hutzel Construction Co. Inc. handled the build-out of the space and Farmhouse was responsible for the branding. Ben Fant with Farmhouse said they wanted the business to feel more accessible and less clinical.
“After your OB/GYN, this is where your pregnancy starts,” Fant said.
A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday May 7, 2016, from noon to 4 p.m. The Bump Studio’s regular hours of operation are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be booked online.
